Five Tennessee state representatives and three Tennessee state senators endorsed U.S. Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) for reelection to Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.

Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson (R-Franklin) and State Senators Joey Hensley (R-Hohenwald) and Mark Pody (R-Lebanon), all of whose districts are within the 5th Congressional District, endorsed Ogles’ reelection campaign.

Johnson, who has served as Senate Majority Leader since 2018, said Ogles has “shown a strong commitment to Tennessee values and conservative principles” during his first term in Congress.

“[Ogles’] efforts to address issues such as border security, government accountability, and inflation highlight his dedication to improving the lives of all Americans. Andy’s hard work and passion for service are valuable to both our state and our nation. I support Congressman Ogles for re-election and encourage all of Tennessee’s Fifth Congressional District to consider doing the same,” Johnson added.

Hensley, who has served in the Tennessee Senate since 2013 after previously serving in the Tennessee House of Representatives for 10 years, said he was “proud” to endorse Ogles, calling the incumbent congressman a “true warrior for our freedoms.”

“In these challenging times, we need leaders like Andy, who stand up against big government and radical overreach. He is a fierce defender of our Constitution, tirelessly protecting our liberties. Andy speaks the truth and fights the establishment with fearless resolve. His dedication to limited government, fiscal responsibility, and individual freedom is unmatched. Congressman Ogles always puts America First, and I hope you’ll join me in supporting his re-election to keep our nation strong and free,” Hensley added.

Pody, who has served in the Tennessee Senate since 2018 after previously serving in the Tennessee House of Representatives for eight years, said he was able to see Ogles’ “conservative stance” while working with him in the past at the state level.

“While working with Andy Ogles at the State Capitol for many years, I was able to see his conservative stance. When he was Mayor of Maury County, we watched him stand up to the federal government to protect his citizens’ constitutional rights. Now, as a congressman, he has been very outspoken, trying to stand up for all of Tennessee against the overreach of the federal government,” Pody said.

Ogles was also endorsed by Tennessee State Representatives Gino Bulso (R-Brentwood), Clark Boyd (R-Lebanon), Kip Capley (R-Summertown), Scott Cepicky (R-Culleoka), Susan Lynn (R-Mount Juliet), and Jake McCalmon (R-Franklin) – all of whose districts are within the 5th Congressional District.

Bulso and Capley called Ogles the “clear” and “only” choice in the race, while McCalmon said the incumbent congressman is “fighting the good fight.”

Lynn cited Ogles’ work to “fix our broken system, limit the power of the federal government, and uphold our conservative values” in her endorsement, adding, “We can trust Andy to vote in line with President Trump’s agenda to protect our borders and restore the United States to a position of prominence on the world stage.”

Ogles said he was “honored” to receive the eight endorsements.

“I am honored to have received the endorsement of so many incredible champions of freedom, faith, and family. There is no greater mark of confidence and encouragement than to have the support of our legislators at home. Their trust in my commitment to our shared values is deeply humbling, and I am dedicated to continuing our fight for a brighter, freer future for Tennessee and our nation,” Ogles said.

Ogles has served as the U.S. representative for the Volunteer State’s 5th Congressional District since January 2023 and is a member of the House Freedom Caucus.

Before his election to Congress, Ogles served as the mayor of Maury County from 2018 until 2022.

In addition to the most recent endorsements by the Tennessee state legislators, Ogles has also been endorsed by Americans for Prosperity Action, multiple members of the Tennessee congressional delegation, the Conservative Political Action Conference, the Republican Liberty Caucus, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-04), and former President Donald Trump.

Ogles faces Metro Nashville Council Member Courtney Johnston in the Republican primary, which will be held on August 1.
